A Midsummer Night's Dream Baby Shower

First of all, can we talk about what a great theme this is? Combining rustic, natural decor and boho vibes with a splash of girly and glamorous. It really was like a dream. We pulled together just enough decor to add some "wow" to the natural beauty of the setting, and lots of small personalized touches for this special day.

Blankets and pillows on the grass made for a cozy, intimate setting, much more in-line with our theme than traditional rented tables and chairs. The guests settled right in and seemed to enjoy the novelty of this seating option even more than I'd expected. To create a special seat for the mother-to-be while opening presents, we strung gauze curtains on a hula hoop, topped off with some floral vines, hung above this beautiful vintage boho garden chair.

Possibly the most adorable (and delicious) part of any event these days. The baker Icing on the Cake in Los Gatos, CA did an amazing job of decorating the cake with the artwork on the invitation, which was hand drawn by Sweet Potato Patch. The essential donuts, garnished with berries, and a donut hole tower to add to the display. Mini desserts masterfully made by La Lune Sucree in downtown San Jose.

I was thrilled to find out that the famous Shakespear quote "Though she be but little, she is fierce." is actually from A Midsummer Night's Dream, so naturally we had to use this.

This next quote "with grace in her heart and flowers in her hair," from a Mumford & Sons song, stole my heart and felt particularly fitting because our activity for this baby shower was... wait for it.... flower-crown making! Such a nice break from the norm (if you have been to as many baby showers as I have).

For the floral design we used moss, hydrangea, love lies bleeding (vines) and wildflowers to complete the whimsical look.

This was by far my favorite event of the year, and best of all the mama-to-be was thrilled with her gorgeous party. Read her review of our event decorating on Thumbtack!
